Vision         

The Mission of the SPLASH Centre, the Harbour Grace Community Youth Network, is to provide experiences, opportunities, and activities to assist in the total development of children and youth in a safe, supportive, pressure-free environment. By focusing on the assets of youth the network will support young people in acquiring the skills necessary to develop as productive individuals.
 

The Community Youth Network has developed the following principles:

- All individuals deserve equal opportunity

- The services must be youth friendly and non-discriminatory regarding gender, religion, culture, race, sexual orientation, etc.

- The services must be located in safe accessible environments

- The focus must be on the assets of youth

- The supports must extend to other youth serving agencies

- The focus must be positive

 

Community Youth Network maintains the following goals:

-To provide youth with the resources necessary to make informed decisions

-To facilitate access to information on available services to youth

-To create a means by which agencies are aware of each other’s existence and have an understanding of the programs each offer

-To facilitate partnerships between community agencies and services

-To share information

-To develop and integrate a coordinated approach to youth services

-To connect with youth that traditionally have not used available services

-To compile a list of solutions to successful outreach practices and share them with youth serving agencies

-To identify programs that need support

-To identify and attempt to fill gaps in youth services

 

The SPLASH Centre believes in and fully supports these principles. With the cooperation of all involved, we will work to ensure these principles and reach these goals. The SPLASH Centre will not be limited to the aforementioned principles and goals, but will continually attempt to expand their ideas to meet the ever changing needs of the youth and community.

Mandate      

The SPLASH Centre shares a mandate with the Community Youth Network:  to provide a variety of services for youth living in or at risk of living in poverty. Its inception resulted from a need to decrease barriers to education and/or employment, and improve the quality of life for young people.
